When it comes to holidays, less people are going on them than ever before. Like most things, this is a financially led situation, and it doesn't look like as situation that is going to change any time soon. In Britain we are well away from being in a recession, but it has to be said that things seem to have changed for good. There is simply not as much money floating around at the moment, and everyday things just cost more. This means of course that we have all had to miss out on some of life's little luxuries, and family holidays are always going to fall into that bracket
You will find that a lot of people who maybe could quite easily afford a family holiday five or six years ago, and who are still in the same job now, cannot even contemplate going on the same sort of holiday that they may have grown accustomed to. The problem is that inflation is at a high level, but the people whose jobs are giving them pay rises are few and far between. This means that most people cannot even consider spending the sort of money on holidays that they have done in the past. For a lot of people this means missing out on a family holiday, but it does not have to be this way. Of course, people have to cut their cloth to fit, but you can do this and get a fantastic holiday
The most important thing to do is to approach the whole affair as if it is a competition to find the best value holiday!
It sounds a bit silly, but doing so can really save you a lot of money. The best way to get this ball rolling is to make sure that you conduct your search for a holiday on the internet. You will find that prices on the net are substantially cheaper than if you were to book through a travel agent, and if you really search the market, you can save hundreds of pounds. Most people who make the biggest savings on holidays on the net do so by purchasing their holidays piece meal. This means that you have to find your flights and hotel independently of each.
Contrary to popular belief, packaging the holiday up does not necessarily mean that you are going to get a better price. It often just means that whoever has put the package together has been able to add a little to the cost whilst hiding the fee within the holiday price. If you search out the individual parts of the holiday yourself, you know exactly what you are paying for. All you really need to do is to search for flights, and then Hotels separately to make sure that you find the best prices. Do this and you can salvage your family holiday, at least for another year!
